DMA 10th Anniversary Celebration

On Saturday, April 28, 2007 The Dominican Medical Association New York Inc. (DMA) celebrated its 10th Anniversary and Award Ceremony at The Faculty Club of The New York- Presbyterian Hospital. Elected officials, community leaders, members and supporters attended the ceremony.

The Nearly one hundred guests included community leaders such as former DMA presidents Dr. Rafael de la Cruz, Dr.Leonardo Paula Cabrera, Dr. Roberto Moran, Dr.Bienvenido Fajardo; Professor Alsenio de Darez, Mr. Radames Lopez (Councilman Miguel Martinez Office), Ms Millie Onofrietti ( CPPH), Drs. Valentina Castillo, Sandra Matos, Alfredo Peguero, Ms. Digna Cid, (MediCoop representatives), Prudential Financial representatives,Yubelkis Mejia(Rivas Travel Agency), Pontificia Universidad Catolica Madre y Maestra(PUCMM) Student’s Dean Dr Jose Joaquin Zoauin and a delegation of distinguished doctors from Dominican Republic.

Among other guests were the DMA Board of Directors: Dra. Isabel Tamarez, Dr. Enrique Rosario, Dr. Dionisio Castro, Dra. Maria Bello, Dr. Miguel Hernandez DMA co-founder member and active President of the Executive Committee; Dr. Francisco Roa, Vicepresident; Dr. Domingo Peña, Secretary; Dra. Angela Rivero, Treasurer; Dra. Candida Martinez, Dra. Agripina Medina and Dra.Hilda Vargas, Vocals.

During this ceremony Dr. Carlos Lithgow, Dr. Marcos Charles and Dr. Jose Contreras received an award for their professional achievements and the outstanding Medical Service that they have been providing to the underserved Hispanic Population. Mr. Andy Nieto of The Ambulatory Care Network of New York-Presbyterian Hospital and Ms. Sandra Harris, Director of Columbia University Community Affair Department, also received an award for their kind support to the Dominican Medical Association.
